OUR STORY
After a few years selling our produce through local farmers market, one of our local oulets, a sweet small farm shop at the Red Lion Yard in Okehampton decided to close down and we were offered the opporunity to take it on. It was a scary prospect which felt a bit too big for us but after much consideration we decided to go ahead and give it a go. The shop was previosuly run by the great Hallwoods team (of Hallwood Farm) and Ruth and Richard offered us lots of help and advice as to how we could make it work (thank you! we'll always be grateful for the opportunity you gave us). We also received much good advice and encouragement from our good friends Dave and Nicola from the Real Food Store in Exeter and Kevin and Jo, fantastic dynamic duo runing Love Local Food mobile shop van in Exeter. From them and a few other people that generously offered their wisdom and experience, we learned the basics of runing a shop and what we needed to think about; we would have not made it without their help.
As growers, we are passionate about producing tasty produce full of natural goodness and vitality, using growing methods which retain carbon in the soil and look after the complex soil food web which is key to nutrient-dense veg which encourages biodiversity and has a positive impact on the environment. As greengrocers, we buy produce from other farms and producers who follow similar values. You can see more about our interests and passions below.
