Harvest Farm Shop

Hilltown Organics is the name of our small market garden on the edge of Dartmoor where we grow some of the produce we sell at the shop.

 

We work the land paying close attention to nature and the life of the soil and always work towards creating a natural balance so that we need to intervene the least possible. We are certified by the Soil Association as organic growers, but we do much more than not using chemicals! We look after the soil with the conviction that the health of the soil is the key to healthy plants and nutritious vegetables with their whole load of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals, naturally full of goodness.

 

We are developing our site following an agroforestgry model and using no-dig methods. We have no-dig raised beds of polycultures between avenues of trees and grow mixing crops, herbs and flowers. We also have chickens and ducks which are part of the system, and do great work clearing land, eating pests and leaving behind valuable manure.
